Greater debt… Cster?
No the reverse is true. The more work (productivity) the more wealth. (see China) Trump tackled it wisely; he is attempting to drain the swamp of those that are unproductive and putting them back into the economy with an emphasis on building a future. A future based on sound economic principles that not only consisted of the land of the free but made America the force for the free…. need we say more!

Not! On the ideology of the Marxists, whereby the minions ultimately become the serfs…. One look at the way America was heading under Clinton and then Obama....certainly proved that serfdom was the ultimate goal.

Meet Donald Trump

Recently a good friend in Tasmania sent a message urging me to read Understanding Trump by Newt Gingrich. Yesterday the book arrived and as she said it is hard to put down. Fortunately it was not my turn to cook.

Gingrich has enjoyed a long association with Trump and he wrote this book to explain what enabled Trump to pull off a political miracle. Gingrich has an inside view on Trump as a friend. He also has an intimate knowledge of the way things work in Washington and he can see how Trump can succeed given the kind of person he is, where he has come from, his capacity to learn fast and his experience as a builder, TV showman and negotiator.

Above all he is a man of the people. He achieved fame and fortune at the big end of town but he came from Queens, not Manhattan, he grew in a small family building business and he went to military prep school, not an exclusive private school. Even when he fronted crowds of ten or twenty thousand people his gestures and his shout-outs were directed to individuals. One on one he is totally engaged with the person, whoever they are, a carpenter or a CEO, not looking over their shoulder for the next conversation.

He is a builder not a bean-counting financier and he makes it his business to know the nuts and bolt of building and running the business. On the site he talks to the construction crew, the painters, tilers and electricians. He knows how to relate to them and he is open to suggestions about improving the work. He learned to do all the jobs in his hotel.
He is dedicated to bringing in projects on time and under budget. When he was contemplating a run at the candidacy he asked Gingrich what it would cost. The answer was 70 to 80 million. At the end he phoned Gingrich to say it was 30 million “And I feel kinda bad”.

He hates waste of all kinds including his own time and other people’s money. He was panned for absenting himself from the regular security briefings. He found it was the same thing almost every time and he decided he just wanted to know when something changed. He slashed the budget for the White House and Gingrich claims that he beat down the cost of the Lockheed F-35 fighter by seven percent. Last week while he was in China some $250 billion in deals for US companies were finalised although there would have been some symbolism in that, Xi probably wanted to make Trumpie feel welcome!

Gingrich explained that there are four sides to the Trump ‘table’: Anti-left, Anti-stupid, Anti-political correctness and Pro-America. He is anti-Left in his DNA although that does not necessarily play out in a small state approach which is part of the rhetoric of the Republican establishment. It does result in his aim to drain the swamp. His Anti-stupid prejudice is expressed in his impatience with the red and green tape generated in Washington and the blue states. He is implacably opposed to political correctness and at the same time he is dedicated to the genuine progress of Afro Americans. From the campaign to the inauguration his Pro-America message was directed at the whole country and he reached out to include Afro-Americans among “us”.

His rhetoric flatly contradicts the perception that he is a demagogue, a bully or a threat to democracy. Unlike Obama who once managed to say “I” seventy times in a single speech, in his major speeches he always put the emphasis on us, the people and the nation. He can’t help being a large, loud and commanding presence but that is very different from being a demagogue or a bully. He communicates when he talks to one person or a crowd and that is very different from ranting and posturing.

He is an outsider to the political and academic establishment but he is still the smartest man in most rooms. That showed out in his campaigning and especially the way he used the media instead of allowing the media to use him. He made the media cycle his own, starting the day with aggressive tweets which may have appeared petulant and childish but they ensured that his antics became the news and later in the day he could call a press conference and be confident that all the press cameras would be there for a free opportunity to make his pitch to the nation. Consequently he obtained massive media coverage without spending serious money on paid ads.

He is a master of branding, both of his opponents and his own campaign. Branding Jeb Bush “low energy” drove Bush to distraction trying to demonstrate energy. Instead of putting his own name on his campaign hats he put a rallying call “Make America Great Again”. Many supporters would shed blood for America where they would not do so for an individual multibillionaire. Besides, everybody knew his name!

Looking to boost his stakes in Wisconsin where the Republicans last won under Ronald Reagan he traveled to Minneapolis (in Minnesota). Minnesota was considered a certain Democrat state and Hilary did not follow him to match his campaign in that state (she won 46 to 45 surviving an 8 percent swing). But the money for Trump came from Wisconsin because he knew that the TV from Minneapolis transmitted deep into central Wisconsin. He won Wisconsin 47.2 to 46.5.

Trump has been making Israel a little nervous. One of his campaign promises was to establish the United States Embassy in Jerusalem, which he is yet to do. And on his first foreign trip abroad, he visited Saudi Arabia (HQ for the Islamic world) and home to the Wahhabi terrorists. Then he went to the Vatican which has been very outspoken against Israel in the past. Adding to this, he wants to create an ‘Arab Nato’, with a question mark over whether Israel would be included in the deal.

Nothing new with that campaign promise Blue Sky... and nothing new in the US reneging on the obligation by the last 3 ? US presidents in moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Since 1990? every presidential hopeful has maintained they would abide by the regulation as set down in the agreement of that time. Gaining a few Jewish followers for the GOP I would imagine.

Trump, when he visited Israel recently, made it quite clear to the Palestinians when they declared that moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem would interfere with a peace treaty; in typical Trump style he is reputed to have asked to see the peace treaty details....
The bluff was called and the ball went back into the Palestinians court.

But I should imagine there will be no peace forthcoming from the Palestinians as there is too much money being made in maintaining the status quo...

Whether Trump will attempt to drain that swamp is any bodies guess... along with those ? Vatican connections. After all he makes no secret of the fact that first and foremost his interests are American.

In spite of most of the local Australian media being anti any thing Trump; a perusal of any free and non bigoted World press will give an observer a totally different perspective.

The Donald decided to not wait until the new year. Keeping his promises and showing leadership. Good Trump is trumping Bad Trump by a fair margin in his first year.


The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act keeps the number of individual tax brackets at seven but reduces the rates to 10, 12, 22, 24, 32, 35, and 37 percent, increases the Child Tax Credit from $1,000 to $2,000 for singles and married couples, and roughly doubles the standard deduction.

On the corporate side, the bill reduces the corporate tax rate from 35 to 21 percent and also eliminates the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate, which requires individuals to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty to the IRS.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) said a family of four earning an income of roughly $73,000 can expect to receive a tax cut of about $2,059 under the new plan.

“The biggest tax reform in a generation is now the law of the land,” Ryan said. “As promised, the American people will begin the new year with a new tax code.”

“At a time when many Americans still living paycheck-to-paycheck, tax reform means more jobs, fairer taxes, and bigger paychecks,” he said. “Already, workers are reaping the benefits of reform as companies take steps to reward their employees and expand their businesses.”

And in other news hundreds of EPA staff are bailing out!


EPA administrator Scott Pruitt is achieving what President Trump appointed him to do. He is draining the swamp.

As I’ve argued before, the EPA has always had less to do with protecting the environment – Colorado gold mine, anyone? – than it does with killing business.

Essentially, it is a communist sleeper cell introduced to the heart of the U.S. government system by Richard Nixon in the mistaken belief that paying Danegeld to your enemies will make them leave you alone.

Previous Republican presidents – such as the Bushes – were far too squishy to dare reform it.

And something a bit different from Mark Steyn, he introduces a Welsh lady who worked with Dylan Thomas reading his classic Christmas story.

And there is more. Leadership on the climate front.


“Climate policies will continue to shape the global energy system,” a draft of the National Security Strategy slated to be released on Monday said. “U.S. leadership is indispensable to countering an anti-growth, energy agenda that is detrimental to U.S. economic and energy security interests. Given future global energy demand, much of the developing world will require fossil fuels, as well as other forms of energy, to power their economies and lift their people out of poverty.”

1. I looked at the new US income tax scales and applied it against my Aus salary. If I was paying at the current US rates, my income tax would reduce by about $6k pa. Pretty handy. However, if my current Aus tax rate was reduced down to the new US scale, my tax would halve.

2. He’s also championing the return of “merry christmas” as a greeting rather than the wimpish “happy holidays” that has for years been symbolic of capitulation to PC.
You have to admire a quality stirrer who is reversing the tide on many fronts.

When the rising interest on rising debt equals the GDP the proverbial will hit the fan.... Sherlock will call in his pound of flesh .... what then: they too will have to drain our swamp. Guess who will get fed to the croc?

Well, we cant quite match that but we do have inflated immigration rates to bolster our economy. NSW took on about 100,000 migrants the year to ensure we don't slip backwards and we maintain pressure on our housing boom. Don't want to burst any bubbles do we.

I understand that the immigration figures for OZ  over any previous 12 months for the past three years, are in excess of 250,000 per year.

If your economic thinking is archaic and totally lazy, then historically the quick fix to drive an economy was to accelerate immigration.  It does have a tendency to quickly drive demand, but there are other heavy ongoing social problems that evolve.

Yesterdays thinking is proving to be a silver bullet, rather than silver platter. Whereby the list of the down side con's, far exceeds those that make up the pro's. But the squeaky wheels get the immediate oil, which currently tends to suffice the supposed majority. (or manufactured majorities)

Increasing numbers (immigration) allows increased production; which in turn increases demand and increases wealth = the silver platter.

But in todays age with technology and over production, the key to a harmonious society is to create leisure in direct proportion to the required standards of living.... which we do, and do quite simply, however we distribute that leisure 'reluctantly' ..  we call it the dole, or dole type benefits. Pensions also fall into that category. 

Alternatively: we 'dole' it out in mammoth proportions to the upper echelon via obscene salaries with covering explanations (proviso) that it trickles down.

Where one personally fits into this scenario of; 'All for one and one for all as long as I'm first' can certainly be the rub...   it matters not what political persuasion you fit into.... but for Oz, it certainly appears to be the shoot yourself in the foot style of advancement... at every twist of the overly green environment.

But.... we need immigration like a hole in the head... or perhaps that's why we have it!
