This will be a good spot, I think, for any new members (and pre-existing ones too of course), to make any suggestions as to how this site might be added to or improved, for example, by the addition of new Major Topic Categories etc. Please do not be shy to make suggestions because they will be most welcome. (Hey, just remember tho, that the wires n cogs in this frail ole bloke's head frequently play up, and it has been known that, sometimes, when I have attempted to fix or improve something, I messed things up bigtime!!) Cheers all, Clem

Hi Clem,
You said not to be shy, so I take you at your word. Do you think it acceptable to create a forum category called 'The Shed On Line' ?
Cheers an no worries either way.

Following Greg aka Sediba's suggestion of adding a section called The Shed On Line, it now is on the site. I, for one, look forward to learning about what you blokes get up to in your sheds.

Tute started a yarn called "the daily splutter" Where could we fit something like that in? Maybe as a under heading or topic in the shed? Just to splutter on about having to mow the lawn or change out the spark plug, sharpen the mower blades etc. Art any clues, urm, Madame tarot?

Hi Clem,
Sorry about all the new threads. But I am trying to save my writing from the other forum before it folds.
Hope thats OK?

Good morning Clem. Mate, I hope I haven't scared you with the sudden inrush of threads?
Would it be possible to have a Science forum. And if so, good man, would it be possible to transfer some of those new threads that I put up into the science forum.
Greg

Greg Thanks Greg, I haven't seen "all the new threads" yet, but it sounds like a very good idea. Re your suggestion (in your subsequent post) about a "Science" Section, I will knock one up very soon.

Clem ... it doesn't matter if those science threads get accidentally trashed. I can still repost them in the Science forum again from the other site.
So no stress mate, shove her into gear and fear not the consequences.

Cheera Clem ... you really are da man. Greg My pleasure, Sediba. You may like to jot in here, the titles of your 'Science' threads so that I can transfer them over to the 'Sheddies & Science' section, yeah? (I haven't had a chance to read everything on the site yet, I have that to look forward to over coming days). Hehehehehe Sed, I just noticed your next post! Thanks.

He heee ... that's a good question.
The Planet Earth, battle warrior is one. And I know I have a few I want to write and another over on the other forum.
But I don't know what you would class the others as. Maybe just leave those ones there.
(as long as I can dribble in the science forum I'll be happy)

Hi Clem, Thank you for taking up Sediba's suggestion for a thread "The Men's Shed Online". The soon to be defunct "TSO" had many good thread headings and I guess us new ex TSO members would like to see similar subject threads. Yesterday I noted your comments about some 'deep and meaningful as well as the hilarious'. I for one would like to report back on TSO that yes, there is room for the deep and meaningful. I would like to see two new subdivisions, a forum for writers and literature and another, for poetry. Your views Clem ? Cheers, Mipela

Cheers, Mipela Good evening Mipela, my view is 'What members want, we seek to deliver'. Kindly give me a hand here if you would: Is the idea that the 'writers' and the 'poets' are current and future members of here? And the 'literature' is that which is written here? (I hope you get what I mean!) In other words, am I correct in my interpretation of what it is that would be written here, is written by any of we members, rather than literature or poetry being written by professionals anywhere in the world, and copied and pasted here? Have I got it right Mipela?

And the 'literature' is that which is written? (I hope you get what I mean!) Yes Clem, the SOL "Member Articles" had a bit of interest they never told us how many readers each article got but the writers seemed to enjoy it and they received a few comments. Meanwhile Mip was the most prolific Bush poet and I put in an odd blank verse piece. Clem, you from memory, wrote a few songs or at least put words to tunes, so maybe we could call it "a can of worms" - members articles, poems and songs. I sort of enjoy blank verse and I consider that I have graduated from rhyming verse. others like Greg marvel at the oblique sciences and Epic is a student of faiths others relate experiences - mmm a can of worms indeed.

Hi Clem, I've looked around the forum but being a digital dill, I'm a bit frustrated. I've sent some posts and I've seen one or 2 printed but there are quite a few that don't appear. What happens when one clicks on 'Quick Reply' ? What happens when one clicks on just 'Reply' ? How does one start a new thread ? I see I've wandered into the 'Shout' section - what/how does this function work ? I would prefer to confine myself to The Shed Online rather than spread myself all over the place. Appreciate your advice. Ta, Mipela

Tricky, ain't it ! As soon as I hit 'Post Quick Reply' the post I couldn't find, appears ! ? ? ? OK. Having found the missing post, how do I post a reply to your response Clem ? I am wondering if an Irishman had something to do with the site's function mechanism ? Mipela

G'day Mipela, I've just used the shout section to stick up a quick help question, It seems to be accessed from every thread and section always at the bottom, seemingly able to deliver live chat, whilst digging in deeper with whatever thread you happen to be in, could even ask the other member online which thread he's using if you wanted to and everyone in here knew to keep having a quick squiz at it from time to time. I haven't used reply yet just quick reply. Hope this helps

Reply as opposed to kwik-reply is a full WYSIWIG editor with many xtra functions.
Create thread isa top of each forum on the right.
Shout is just a chat for quick remarks. Usually it is not visible to the public, only members. The chat line is the equivalent of the pub.

(I just wrote you a pretty detailed post about How to Reply to a post, and how Quick Reply works, and, for a reason totally unknown to me, my wi-fi wouldn't work and my post didn't work!!! Maybe some other members will answer your enquiries before I get back to it. In the meantime, Mipela, just click on this and that..... and see what happens. Cheers Mip, Clem

Clem:
Two things.
Neither Urgent.
1 Could you shift 'My Father's terrible Tales' into the wacky writers forum from The Shed on line Forum?
2 Can you set up a PayPal account, or similar, on here so that from time to time I can make donations towards the upkeep and ongoing maintenance of this site. I know the amount of work you have to do to keep us little chappies happies.
Cheers Mate ... Greg

Greg Gday Sediba, thank you for your suggestions, it is excellent to have people making suggestions, because, to state the bleedin obvious, no admin that I've ever known can possibly know what a site's members would appreciate. To your two points above... 1. I'll have a go at that, and try not to shift Terrible Tales into Bike Ride Reports, or worse, into oblivion! Do you have a back-up of TT in case I mess up??? 2. You are very kind indeed to make that offer, Greg. At this stage, ProBoards provides the site for free and it continues to do that, until such time as we request 'no advertisements' and/or, we exceed a certain level of words/pics and whatever other attachments our Members post. I have no idea what the level of data is, beyond which, we are required to pay. At this stage, I am more than happy to make the payment of whatever amount it may become (without having to sell my lil house! ) Thank you again for your consideration, Greg. Cheers mate, Clem

Greg isn't the only one willing to put his hand in his pocket, if it ever arises that we need to pay something, don't go it alone.
