When I was a Teen, we had a saying as a cranky or addled kid was called a subnormal headcase
New Chum started to disso and to leave was to Disso. short for disappear, often mums command shortened.
Yobbo's still around as is hoon. However Bozo became commonplace without any bad connotation, as in just us Bozo's

Clumsy kids got called "spastic". Stupid kids were called "Mong". At least when kids did clumsy or stupid things. This as recently as my kids' generation (they're now in their forties).
Now "spastic" kids (those with cerebral palsy) and kids with intellectual impairments (Down Syndrome or just Intellectual Impairment) are part of the classroom and playground, at least some of the time, so kids are more sensitive. That's not a bad thing.

They were isolated in my day, they went past on a bus when you did see them. Spastic society. So they got subby bus for the subnormal kids on board. If for any reason life deviated for them they threw a wobbly and hyperventilated and screamed. So we took that and made it Spaz attack a phrase used to describe anyone who became emotional. Didn't matter the reason if it happened it was a spaz attack. Subnormal then became the derogatory call. Ya subnormal headcase rang out if the argument was heading into the thump stage. Designed to enrage the opponent.
Today spaz attack is still used occasionally when I talk to my Highschool mates, as a descriptor for some persons emotional outburst (often seen on youtube these days) if that's the topic then the saying would be check out the spaz attack this one had. Might be that hanging around 70's high schoolers does that or it might be a hanger on of that era in my vocabulary.
I know the ex sister in law roll's her eyes when I've used a phrase from those days, she has two grandies that she has to care for that are Mong. Both if in their zone are lovely kids to be with but outside that zone, live up to the description we used in the 70's. Helping as you do means you can be yourself and not offend. Eye rolling is exercise of a sort isn't it? So I'm a helpful chap. The elder of the two grandkids really looks forward to seeing me when get togethers occur. Who knew bullshift could work for me so well.
