It all started on Saturday 24 September 2011, when I left home for a trip to Bowen in Queensland for a meet-up with some of the Dungbeetle Biker Club (aka The Jellybean Club!) mob.
Two days before I left home, I had new Ikon rear shocks put on my bike and they sure made the ride more comfortable than if I still had the stock shocks.
Anyway, I rode just 313k and set-up camp at a Tourist Park at Yandina.

I enjoyed a very comfortable night in my tent at Yandina but the flamin' thing decided to blow away next morning when I had it parked in the sun to dry the dew off it.

I enjoy taking my time on long-haul trips (I enjoy taking my time even on short trips too!), and so I enjoyed having a smoko stop in the shade at Childers.

While wandering around, I decided to take a pic of the Bullet Box on the back of my trailer! ;D

You will be excited to know that I took a pic of the Fuel Box on the front of my trailer! ;D
This thing was originally a fridge but I didn't want a fridge.
So I gutted it and I use it now as a place to keep my 5-litre can of fuel, some spare oil, and of course, my night-time piddle-can! ;D ;D ;D

Eventually, after mucking about for some time, I headed off to Gin Gin where I set up camp in a road-side free camp place.
I only travelled 266 k from Yandina to Gin Gin. ;D

Holy Mackeral! I was not pleased to wake up at Gin Gin on Day 4 of my trip, with super major dizzies!!! I had been experiencing dizzies for a long time, but because I had enjoyed a little while without them, I thought I might get away with a ride to Bowen and back. I managed to pack up camp and head off, somehow making the 273k to Rockhampton, where I met-up with the Maddogs and Sue and Don at the Gracemere Tourist Park.

Though not quite right in the noggin, I rode from Rockhampton to Calen, a distance of 414k, and booked into a lovely little cabin.
Camping is good.
But sometimes a cabin, hotel or motel is a hellova lot better! ;D

I don't know why it was done, but we tourists staying in the cabins, got quite a surprise to, at first hear, and then see, a pretty big fire very close to us in the Tourist Park!

It was all a bit of a worry, I mean, I didn't want the paint on my bike and trailer to melt! ;D

It was an easy little ride of just 149k from Calen to my destination of Bowen. The Maddogs and I had delicious ice-creams at some joint leading into Bowen and shortly after that, we scoffed some KFC, and then it was off to the campsite. I was pleased the Maddogs had got to camp before I did, because I had parked my bike and trailer in the camping area to check out just where I would set-up camp, and after finding a spot, be-buggered if I could find where my bike was! As I was wandering around, Lorraine Maddog turned up from wherever and asked me what was wrong. "I can't find my bike," I said. Lorraine found it! I was so very pleased to jump on it (very gingerly 'jump' on it that is), ride to my spot, and set up camp.

I didn't socialise much at the gathering apart from some yarns with the Doggies and Wauri because I was pretty-much 'away with the fairies' all the time! ;D I slept a lot tho...

It was time to leave Bowen and head off home. Not that I was confused in the head or anything, but I had two main problems on my way home! The first problem was I couldn't decide where to stop for the night! This problem was made worse because, due to all the mine and road-workers in the area, everything was booked out! The second problem was I just couldn't make a decision about where to stop! Eventually I was so totally buggered, after 743k, I stopped in the main street of Miriam Vale and set-up camp in a shelter shed.

It was a lovely little shelter shed, I forgot to take a photo of my sleeping bag on the floor of it, but I slept very soundly there. As did the fat ugly cane toad that was in my sleeping bag with me the next morning!

Early the next morning, I left the cane toad in Miriam Vale, fired-up the Nightster, and headed south. Uh oh! I had not gone far and I could hardly see in front of me!

When the fog had cleared a bit, I jumped back on the scooter and according to my diary for the day,
"Miriam Vale to home & babe... and Penny... 666km."
It was a good trip, one not without a few challenges, but one I thoroughly enjoyed.
Penny is the dog. ;D
