For the 12th year in a row, I am heading out tomorrow on the Annual Southern Cross Assn Poker Run to raise funds for kids with Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus The route this year will take me through most of the length of the state again and will be over 4,000 kms for the ten days of the trip I am riding in a small group of 6 or 7 and collecting others on the way. Cairns, Charters Towers, Springsure, Gayndah (Start point), Tara, Roma, Blackall, Sapphire, Kuttabull, Townville, Home. There are supposed to be about 500 starters this year and I will be videoing and taking photos and I will try to update as the trip progresses. Map of trip goo.gl/maps/fuxzn

still on the road heading toward the start line at Gayndah Spending the night in a single bed donga at Rolleston which is about 630 kms from our 7:30 start point arrived at four so a long day riding dinner at the pub of grilled chicken breast with Camembert and sun dried tomato pesto even the bush has caught on to good food I only saw one young wedge tail eagle but it didn't,t want to leave its road kill and nearly ended inside my jacket after a late take off I would have posted it to snowhite for her collection if it did off again to Gayndah at 7:30 but only 460 kms to go so an easy day and meet up with the rest of the 500 starters

Easy day today to get to the midpoint 248 kms and in Roma by 11AM
I found the last room in town so I have at least a comfortable bed shower toilet all to myself Awful road to start the day but lovely clear cool weather for riding Saw heaps of birds but no live furry things a group of emus in a paddock, grey parrots, a flock of about twenty galahs who all swooped at me just missing my head I will recharge today and motor off on a long stretch tomorrow to Blackall

It seems you are having a great time Wauri, I hope there were no bed bugs in the motel bed and you were all cosy and comfy. Looking forward to more of your ride reports and pics after you are home. Cheers Wauri, Clem

News from the poker not as good as it could be my mate Terry had a bit of a head spin turn this afternoon was checked out at the hospital but isn't confident of continuing so is heading straight back to Cairns I will travel with him of course and will miss the rest of the run But he drew all his cards for the poker hand tonight and has four tens and a seven he may even win the $1500 prize we will take a few days as it is about 1600 kms to home these things happen but I have caught up with my mates again and it will still be a good ride home

It is a terrible thing headspin especially when ya can't blame the grog. There was/is a bit of a virus getting around Mackay a few weeks back that caused that headspin. If he is okay this morning he should be okay for the run whether poker or home. Good on ya bloke for being there for ya mate. Very unselfish of you to ride with him home, but this is the biker code and I know ya as an unselfish biker.

Looks like you had a great run. Sorry about your mate taking crook, fantastic to see you shepherding him back home.
If you stay in any motels,/caravan parks.....be very wary about using the kettles. Have a look in the register, & see if anyone has been there, who looks like the foto above this post.
I have heard rumours about funny things being done in kettles.
