I ordered a trike today it should be fun. It is a sort of mobile exercise bike with 30 kg payload I will use it to take my bowls to the club and my wife might have a go, it is flat around here alongside the river. The options are endless. It woulld be more fun with some mates with trikes too we could hoon around and even bling them up. They used to cost thousands but now they are hundreds. I paid $400 including freight but there has been better deals around RRP is over $900 Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

I reckon these trikes are a good thing, I hope you thoroughly enjoy getting about on it for whatever the reason. The more I check them out the better they get. I bought it for exercise and fun and I was not interested in the electric one BUT everything is not what it seems. It started with the laws and has finished up more bang for your buck, I will cut and paste the explanation from an importer at Burleigh heads wh has a 40 feet container full coming tomorrow. Our normal 24" Trike Bike just got better.... Now with Electric Pedal Assist you can travel at speeds up to 25 km/h for up to 40 kms distance effortlessly as long as you move the pedals. Please allow me to explain how the Electric Trike Bike works. If a normal Trike or Bike was completely electrically operated it would need to be registered to comply with Australian Design Rules (ADR). To maintain compliance our electric Trike Bike has a unique set of controls. Press and hold one button on the keypad and the Trike will drive away at speeds up to 6 km/h (which is a fast walking pace). This is a speed limitation to remain legal for electric powered vehicles, lift your finger off the button or touch the brakes and power to the electric motor instantly ceases. To go any faster than this you need to select any of the four other settings and start peddling the Trike. By peddling the Trike you engage the electric assistance and with four different settings you can go from just a few kilometers per hour right up to the top speed of over 25 km/h. Stop pedalling or touch the brakes and the electric motor automatically disengages and the Trike starts to slow. The important thing to note is you don't have to pedal hard; just move the pedals and keep them moving and the electric motor stays engaged. You are now racing along and still getting a little bit of exercise also ! The electric motor is 250 watt and operates at 36 volts (the maximum legal limit in AU). The battery is lithium polymer and the manufacturer advises t

I reckon these trikes are a good thing, I hope you thoroughly enjoy getting about on it for whatever the reason. The more I check them out the better they get. I have bought a different brand without power assist. My trike cost $400 and this brand had the electric alternative for $1200. BUT there is an aftermarket kit (the brand name Australian kit) on ebay from the manufacturer for $400 but that is a lead acid battery not the latest Lithium ion super battery www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-DIY-Electric-Bike-Bicycle-Conversion-Kit-250W-Motor-Front-Wheel-20-/371210964818?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item566de5cf52With the good battery they are $679. Anyway they can make your peddling "no up hill" and you can go a lot further for your effort. I will try it without power assist first. BTW the motor is in the wheel hub and could be a good thing.
