Well I was awake early this morning and wandered out to check the weather.
Looked ok outside and the light misty rain on the hills- no problem
So fire up the computer and there we are- clear radar all the way to Townsville.
Wander off and drop off the pets to the pet motel and back home.
Bugger checking again, hook up the trailer and off we go.
Bit wobbly to start with until I got used to the weight.
Made it to just past Fishery Falls and noticed all the vehicles heading my way had their lights on.
Oh shit- stop and on with the wet weather gear; then the heavens opened and we had monsoon deluge just this side of C>S>A>F>T> rain (Can't See A-------Thing). There were Pteredactyls swooping down from the rainforest oops different story.
Anyhow, carried on through Babinda and Innisfail and the rain slowed to a torrential downpour being blown in sideways but at least I coud see the road.
Once past Tully it settled until the Cardwell Range and then fine to Townsville.
Finally arrived a daughters place to yelling kids, mad mothers and no peace at all.
Oh well back on our road trip tomorrow. I love the peace and quiet of the road.

Day 2 was much betterer, made it away from daughters place to the freedom of the road.
Duty done now it is time to party
Stopped in a Clem type camp for the night at Mackay
The Country Comfort Motel opposite the pub I usually eat at.
About half way through the trip for distance and still plenty of time.
The weather south is still a bit iffy so i am letting it clear too
And yes Clem, we are camping at the grounds for a week. All the comforts in the trailer
good to hear that you are also having a good time in your travels

Day 3 and up and at em earlyish
Left Mackay 7:30 and expected a big day to get past as much roadworks on their day off
That part worked.
Fuel economy towing the trailer is awful around 14 km /litre and I miscalculated a little
Distance to Miriamvale 60 kms Distance to empty on fuel computer 59 luckily Benaraby was there with 40 kms to go
but as I drove in to the servo I could hear the trailer safety chain dragging
Luckily the servo actually sold things for vehicles and not bread and milk so all good
then i looked down and my boot was doing a Charlie Chaplin impersonation with the sole let go to the middle
Back and get some cloth tape and do some running repairs
Lot of roadwork but made it to Gin Gin at 3:30 and now in a nice motel.
Only a couple hundred kms to go tomorrow
but both boot heels no longer connected
Hope they have a stall at the meet. New boots are in order

i did the very very long trip to finish ooday
even stopping for a coffee and a refuel too less than 2 hours
Still plenty of roadworks to slow things down
Set up camp and now just chilling until time to wander over for a pizza. Fair bit of choice for food on site especially seafood
will try to put some photos up
Lot of bikes and camps around

Boots sorted yet? or you gone all hippy and barefoot? flash new boots, new rain gear, new helmet,couple of t shirts and a definite hippy outlook on life Lots here and still arriving and I now have sorted my computer issues so my blood pressure is low. Lot of people to talk to and shiny things to attract me in the bike lane |

Keep safe and into mischief Wauri. q Clem the shackle had come undone but only a short time before I think I have flash new boots and aRJays flip face helmet. my old helmet took a starring role in last nights helmet throwing competition I passed on your greetings to Don Apparently yesterday when I was away, two of our old friends also visited the group Psycho and Buzz Shame I missed that Big night tonight at the Maryborough RSL where I may have a quiet drink or 10 Bus to take me home |

Im hearing conflicting reports I was on my best behavior as usual Unfortunately this is not a high standard but there was so much good food i did not have any room for too much alcohol Only enough for a gentle glow But I had to sit up for hours waiting for my tummy to reduce enough so i could fit in the tent Thank goodness for the internet and wireless so I could put those hours to productive use |

I am still on the road stopped at Clermont
I was going to continue north on the inland road but an inspection of my trailer tires last night means I am heading the 336 kms to the coast at Mackay and getting new tires
They may last but very little tread left and it is a long way from anywhere inland.
Will cost me a few hours and a couple of extra hundred kms but safe not sorry
the countryside is lovely after the rain, many small green grass parrots, galahs. other parrots and a young dingo watched me drive past yesterday
Lot of eagles,kites,crows, and hawks as well
still home tomorrow with luck

A check this morning showed enough tread to go inland
Dust made them look worse last night
Stopped at Charters Towers as planned
SWMBO not up to traveling any further but I would have gone on to Ingham
hehehehehehehehe
Always something breaks down on a trip
don't reckon she will sign on for any more long trips
