Tyres for the Storm? I am looking at replacing the Metz rear 200 50 17 tyre with a Michelin but looks like there is no replacement for it with the Micho's. I winder if a 190 55 17 would be okay? Anyone got any idea on if this will work?

Put a car tyre on it
You will be amazed at
The performance and mileage
Not to mention the cost saving

Not sure how it goes with insurance if I cause the stack and had a car tyre on the rear.

Maybe I won't but if I was involved in a stack [which may have been the better choice of words] will the insurance company be looking for a way out of paying the loot? I am guessing yes especially if the bike is deemed unroadworthy due to not having motorcycle tyres on it. Just me being a bit cautious I suppose.

Squeak coming from the rear of bike has disappeared. Looks like Redline got it right and realigned the belt.

Well at around 13,000km the tyres are now in need of replacing - well the rear in particular but I will do both. Going with the Micho Commander 2 on front and rear. A lot of Thunderbirds owners are using them and find they fit okay and ride well. I have had them on the HD and find them a brilliant wearing tyre with good grip.

Still have not heard back from the bike shop about the new tyres so I will give him a call next week. If anyone is interested, I am thinking of doing a ride up to Springmount Raceway (Mareeba) on weekend 14-15 May for the Northern Nationals. I plan to leave from Mackay area a couple days before and return a couple days after the weekend.

Spoke with mechanic and he is sourcing the tyres and will get back to me once they arrive. Another change I have been considering is the change of bars to a more western pullback style. Only prob is extended cable and stuff is not readily accessible for the Triumph.

It's nice having a heap of tread on one's tyres, you can just about 'see' the water from wet roads squirt out. A mob somewhere in Ballina make cables, longer or shorter, so I imagine your mechanic will know of someone around who will make to length. Cables aren't cheap, but, getting those handlebars in the right place makes the cost well worthwhile.

Clem I will keep the cable maker in mind. I will make some mods I reckon and the bars will be one, as will the pipes with the removal of a joiner between the two for a more throaty sound

The tyres arrived and fitted a week ago. No problem replacing the rear 200/50/17 with a 200/55/17 and I can still touch the ground while sitting on seat lol. Little ride up to Finch Hatton yesterday to help run them in all seems well. Can recommend the Micho Commander 2.

Have had the tyres on for a cuppla hundred k's now and they ride nicely. No scraping inside the guards and not to stiff from the extra few millimetres of sidewall. I will put up a cuppla pics of them as soon as I can locate the things in this puter. Okay I found them so here they are. Attachment DeletedRear Tyre Attachment DeletedFront Tyre

And for the lucky cuppas who waited so patiently for me to locate those tyre pics, here is a pic of the exhaust mod I did recently - removal of the CAT and replace with SS tube. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

I must ask, Is it cooler without that cat under there? I know of others who have upgraded their pipes, and losing the cat aided in the heat felt by the pillion as much as the rider, They say it used to just waft up (the heat)now not so much.

It may be cooler, Cster. I have not taken a lot of notice at present having only done a longish (200km x 2) ride. I'd say the exhaust system would be expelling the heat quicker now. I do know the heat off the Harley when I had it was noticeable when standing still in traffic. The Triumph Storm is coolant cooled which is a big help.

Ah yes I forgot about the coolant. Thinking it an air cooled bike.
